The Haircut

Updated: Oct 6, 2019

Delighted that my short story The Haircut was shortlisted for the national 2019 Aurora Prize for Writing (awarded by Writing East Midlands in partnership with The Society Of Authors) judged by Booker Prize Nominee, Alison Moore. The Haircut is now available on Kindle.

Every year, the Aurora Writing Prize receives hundreds of submissions from all over the country (and the world). It is great to know that I was one of only 10 shortlisted writers in my category. My story explores autism as a different way of being and how love endures. It gives a voice to a young person on the autistic spectrum, imagining how he feels when he is taken to the hairdressers by his mother. He hates having his hair cut. Within the space of an hour their day unravels.

If you are a Kindle reader interested in reading more about how being on the autistic spectrum can change everyday family life this book is for you!
